Asphalt Plant Feeder Introduction

The driving way of the feeder is VFD motor -> reducer -> chain -> roller -> belt. The VFD motor speed determines the speed of short belt so as to determine the output capacity of the asphalt mixing plant.

The feeding part is generally consisting of 4 cold bins (5 bins sometimes), and each cold bin equipped with a feeder at the bottom is for one kind of aggregate. All feeders are of same configuration, so the speed ratio and aggregate ratio of each feeder are almost same. The quicker the speed is, the large the load of drum and heating equipment is, the lower the material temperature is, the more material residual in the hot storage bin; while lower speed will cause insufficient feed to the drum, higher temperature of materials and mixer drum, and lower output capacity.

Therefore the speed of each VFD motor should be calculated based on the productivity and aggregate ratio prior to production.

The upper of the feeder is cone hopper, the cold bin for fine aggregate should be specially taken care of as it is easily stuck due to humidity. In this case, a vibrator is a good solution as it can effectively remove the residual. Alarming device is another option to monitor the material level.

Besides, vibrator installed around the bottom gate can be also used to control the flow of cold aggregate through changing vibration frequency.
